Great day - January 27

70 years ago The Siege of Leningrad ended. Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) was blocked by Nazi troops in September 1941. Hitler's plan was to destroy the city and kill all (almost three millions) inhabitants. The 872 horrible days of the siege caused unparalleled famine in the Leningrad. Millions of people were without water, electricity, steam, sewage, and food supplies. This resulted in the deaths of up to 1,500,000 soldiers and civilians.
